I am a long time vacationer in Eagles Mere and a lapsed Episcopalian.
I believe religion and politics are badly infecting each other in the United States today.
I have no idea about the extent to which you agree, if at all.
Regardless, I wish to urge you to watch the below video, which is a discussion with Tim Alberta concerning his new book The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory.
If you watch the video, I would next ask you to consider whether it would be constructive from the perspective of both religion and politics for the video to be watched by an appropriate group at your church, followed by discussion.
I will understand if you think the video is inappropriate for your church's purposes.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: To Pres. Tom Graff re new book "The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory"
Dear Tom,
I didn't make it to Eagles Mere last summer and right now don't think I will get there next summer.
That notwithstanding, I am trying to keep up contact in various ways.
I believe religion and politics are badly infecting each other in the United States today.
I have no idea of the extent to which you agree.
Regardless, I wish to urge you to watch the video at https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/writer-details-how-evangelicals-confronted-him-about-trump-at-his-father-s-funeral-199309381624, which is a discussion with Tim Alberta concerning his new book The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory.
If you watch the video, I would next ask you to consider whether it would be constructive from the perspective of both religion and politics for the video to be watched by an appropriate group at your Presbyterian Church, followed by discussion.
I will understand if you think the video is inappropriate for your church's purposes, and I thank you for whatever consideration you give this, Tom.
Just for your information, I have posted a letter to the Eagles Mere churches regarding this on my Blogging Eagle blog at https://bloggingeagle1.blogspot.com/2023/12/eagles-mere-churches-and-kingdom-power.html.
In closing, my best to Barb and you for the holidays.

Subject: Please pardon this Alabamian's intrusion on Bucknell's chaplains
Dear Mr. Nelson,
Long ago I spent my freshman year at Bucknell. I have several Bucknell acquaintances from Eagles Mere PA, where I have been a longtime summer vacationer.
Recently I sent/posted a letter to Eagles Mere's churches concerning Tim Alberta's new book The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. In particular, I urged them to view the video at https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/writer-details-how-evangelicals-confronted-him-about-trump-at-his-father-s-funeral-199309381624, and have a group discussion about the same at their church. (The letter I sent/posted to the Eagles Mere churches can be found at https://bloggingeagle1.blogspot.com/2023/12/eagles-mere-churches-and-kingdom-power.html.)
My letter has gotten no reaction, including no reaction from Bucknell acquaintances whom I informed about the letter (with one exception).
If Bucknell's chaplains think what I am doing is inappropriate, I would be interested in their telling me that.
I think what I am doing is legitimate and justified, but I want to be respectful, and sending you this email can help me in my belief that I am being respectful, including possibly causing me to doubt my belief.
Thank you for reading this email.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Subject: Trump's campaign of terror against immigrants
Dear St. Francis Xavier parish office:
My wife and I attend the 8:30 mass at St, Francis most Sundays.
I think Trump is conducting a campaign of terror in America against immigrants.
Perhaps millions of Americans support this terror campaign.
I think, however, an overwhelming majority of Americans do not believe that is what America is about, and they do not support Trump's terror campaign.
I think such overwhelming majority of Americans should speak up against Trump's terror campaign and say publicly that Trump should cease his terror campaign.
I am trying to speak up against Trump's terror campaign, and that is the reason for this email, to wit, I would like to connect with St. Francis parishioners who think Trump should cease his terror campaign.
I hope this email is not out of place.
If this email is out of place, please feel free to disregard it.
Otherwise, I hope I can connect with St. Francis parishioners who feel that Trump should cease his terror campaign against immigrants, and the parish office can aid me in doing that.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
